About PAAGZ
People’s Action for Accountability and Good Governance in Zambia (PAAGZ) is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing governance and accountability processes. Our focus is on the public sector’s impact on vulnerable populations, aiming to improve service delivery and address poverty and inequality. We use a unique approach that incorporates art and creative expressions to drive advocacy and interventions on good governance and service delivery, particularly targeting marginalized women and youth.
Job Summary
PAAGZ is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Finance Intern for a three-month period. The successful candidate will support our Finance and Administration Department in various operations, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting. The Finance Intern will report to the Finance and Administration Officer.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and managing budgets, financial reports, and statements
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Process payments as requested
- Record transactions in the accounting system
- Receive and review retirements
- Collect invoices, quotations, and receipts
- File all accounting documents
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Assist in preparing for audits and ensuring compliance with financial regulations
- Provide support to the finance team as required
Requirements
- Recent graduate or currently pursuing a Degree in Accounting and Finance, ZICA Licentiate, or ACCA Stage 2
- Below 30 years of age
- Strong understanding of financial concepts and principles
- Proficient in the double-entry accounting system
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Knowledge of accounting software is an added advantage
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work well in a team and meet deadlines
