Electionville Launch

Electionville Launch

On Wednesday 18th March 2026, PAAGZ collaborated with Embassy of Sweden in Lusaka and Alliance for Accountability Advocates Zambia (AAAZ) to Launch and rollout Electionville.

Electionville is a participatory local democracy game developed by Max Valentin under the auspices of Svenska institutet (Swedish Institute) depicting a fictional city in the shape of an educational floor game, where the participants take on the challenging roles of city council members. It is fun and engaging with the main objective of educating and providing insights into how democracy and decision making on local public service delivery priorities works.

The event was graced by Her Worship the Mayor of Lusaka, Chilando Chitangala Mayor of Lusaka, who attended as Guest of Honor. Her presence added significance to the engagement, reinforcing the importance of civic participation and accountable leadership in Zambia’s democratic journey.

With Zambia preparing for the August 2026 General Elections, the engagement comes at an important moment. Key contributions during the session highlighted the role of citizens in upholding credible electoral processes, as well as the importance of inclusivity, openness, and accountability throughout the electoral cycle.

It was also encouraging to see the active participation of young people in the simulation. Their engagement provided a glimpse into how youths are thinking critically about Zambia’s resources, exploring ways to strengthen different sectors, and contributing ideas towards the country’s overall development.

PAAGZ and partners intend to roll out and integrate Electionville into the wider framework of Electoral accountability capacity building programmes for young people.
