THE CIVICUS PROJECT

PAAGZ IS USING CREATIVE, INNOVATIVE AND INCLUSIVE APPROACHES TO SAFEGUARD CIVIC SPACE IN ZAMBIA: THE CASE OF THE CYBER LAWS AND CONSTITUTIONAL REFORMS PROJECT

The objective of this project is to proactively safeguard civic space in Zambia and empower citizens to defend democratic governance and constitutionalism through Creative advocacy and informed civic engagement, by developing resilience and protection of civil society and individuals against restrictive legislation, deepening citizen engagement and participation in constitutional and policy processes, and promoting citizen awareness in the digital space on ongoing constitutional and policy developments through creative expression and advocacy.

Under this initiative, we aim to:
✅Monitor, analyze and respond to implementation of the cybercrime’s laws and constitution amendment bill
✅Raise public awareness about the implications of the cyber laws and constitution amendment bill in the context of civic space restrictions in Zambia
✅Advance protection and resilience of civil society
✅Promote narrative to counter disinformation campaigns
✅Targeted Advocacy with decision makers

Through creative advocacy, community theatre, arts, social media engagement, influencers, and #PipozParliament dialogues, we are empowering citizens with the knowledge they need to understand these laws, engage decision-makers, and participate meaningfully in shaping Zambia’s future.
