CFCA – CIBZ High Level Meeting Summary 2025

On June 27, 2025, we had the honor of co-hosting the High-Level Closed-Door Session at the Creative Industries Business Summit Zambia 2025, alongside the Ministry of Youth, Sport & Arts and Selam.

The session brought together influential leaders and cultural visionaries from across Africa, including ministers, permanent secretaries, directors, and cultural experts from Zambia, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, and Tanzania. The discussions centered on a pivotal theme: how African governments can scale up public investment in Arts, Culture, and Heritage, with a target of allocating 1% of national budgets to these sectors by 2030.

This bold objective aims to unlock creativity, empower the cultural sector, and ensure sustainable growth for generations to come. A heartfelt thank you to the remarkable leaders and artists who participated, including ‪@kanayookanayotv‬ Tony Umez, Sharon Wekwete, and key representatives such as Sonny Zulu, Managing Director of Standard Chartered Bank, and Shebo Nalishebo, Executive Director at African Development Bank. We also appreciate the presence of Hon. Rodney Malindi Sikumba, Minister of Tourism, for his significant contributions to the dialogue. Special thanks to our moderator, Mulenga Kapwepwe, whose skillful facilitation guided the conversation toward actionable solutions.

This session marked a significant step in advancing Africa’s creative economy, and we are proud to have played a part in fostering this important dialogue. Watch the video highlights to experience the powerful exchanges and to see how we can collectively unlock the full potential of Africa’s creative industries.
